Timelapse sequence

Technical Details

This sequence was taken indoors over approximately 24 hours with one shot taken every 30mins. The camera was fired remotely from a laptop using my RemoteCapture software. The remote capture software bundled with the camera isn't really suitable for this shot because it doesn't give enough control over the camera. I wanted to take the shots in manual mode with an aperture of f/8 to maximise the depth of field. The shot was illuminated by a flash gun to ensure consistent lighting throughout the sequence. A shutter speed of 1/1000sec was used to minimise the effect of ambient light. My first attempt at this shot failed because the daffodil's stalk sagged during the and it moved out of the frame - I taped the stalk to a tripod to prevent this happening the next time. The flashgun was mounted in the camera's hotshoe and I was lucky that the batteries lasted for 24 hours. Next time I will use a slave flash so that I can change the batteries in mid sequence without disturbing the camera.
